Hit 8000 today. Felt like 8000 degrees as I headed North to the lake with a nice tailblow.
7 miles in rear tire goes flat. I had changed it this morning from a flat at the end of yesterdays ride. Stopping I was drippy sweaty. Made to the lake with the old man waiting near Southmore. We made it to JOP right as my wife and girls showed up. 40 miles
Red Hammer was working his crane at The Governors cup, so we headed over to the VIP area for some lunch/beverages. Hydroplane racing is not fun, even with VIP access, free food etc.
It was also 8000 degrees. I did hang on the outside of The Hammers crane for a few boat pick ups-Cool. The girls played a bit on some inflatables and we headed back to the old mans for some bike work.
-7 tubes that need attention---a recent string of bad luck ( or is it Junk Continental tires?)
-Tandem-lower child stoker position- this turned into a total nitemare
-Jamis TT- pick up from Thursday-- in the last 2 TT's I have done I have had to stop and reset the rear wheel (1 time at the base- 1 time at the Tri- plus searching for my computer in the side ditch after losing it on a RR crossing) so some attention is required. The rear brake bridge was cracked and a recall part was ready for installation- though since I have not been doing TT's the bike was hanging. The old man fixed the rear brake bridge issue and the horizontal dropouts ( one of the set screws was bent)
-Fixie- put back on 46-17 winter/rest day gear
No fair--it is fair! Thank god it is over. Dr FF called tonight said he had a front row box seat to the demo derby--No thanks. We achieved our goal of not being out there every nite. I did go to the tractor pull, and the girls spent all day Tuesday there. We did see our friends children, nieces in events during the week, though 3 meals a day at the fair did not happen (this year).
